Dimo Dimov
Dimo Dimov -
Chief Sound Engineer
I was born in 1977 in a small town in Bulgaria. In 1995, I graduated from high school in Bulgaria's capital – Sofia. Having in mind my love of music, I decided to start my higher education in "Computer systems and technologies in music" in New Bulgarian University. I specialized in 1999-2000 in Bulgarian National Radio. In 1999, for first time, I started to work with Pro Tools of Digidesign, at the beginning with the free version and one year later I bought my own Mbox 1.
While studying, I assisted the sound-screening and recording of all forums of Computer Music at the New Bulgarian University from 2002 to 2004.
In 2003, I was an assistant to Simo Lazarov in his course “Types of computer system and technologies in music". In 2004, I made my first shooting and post production of commercial video of a dancing couple.
Later on, I dealt with training and advice for the reconstruction and upgrading of the studio of the Union of Bulgarian Composers. I worked a while in the company “Film Service". In 2005, I was set dresser in the film “Black Dahlia". This work seemed to me strange then, but in fact somewhat opened my eyes to film production, after that I started a few recording projects. In that year, I participated also in the remix contest of song of the American group Nine Inch Nails, organized by the American radio 91X.com and gained 2nd position.
In October of the same year, I started to work in "Ekran-Sound Services" company as boom operator and sound recordist of small projects. My work there provided me with valuable knowledge and practice.
In 2006-2007, I was invited to record the "Computer Space Music" Festival of New Bulgarian University as well as the "Workshop on the "Sound and Light in Winter Sozopol ".
In 2007, I worked mainly on film making as an artist in the film "The Contractor", set dresser in the film "Until Death", boom operator in the movie Leonardo Corbucci Zanobi - "Black and white in colors" and others.
In beginning of 2008, I specialized in the Alchemea College, London, where I learned a lot. I take the opportunity here to thank to the teacher staff, who opened my eyes about studio sound recording: Tony Garston, Mike Sinnott, Alex Burak, Neil Pickles, Jim Bryden and Thom Ntinas.
From 2008-2010, I worked in Studio for Television Films “Ekran” to the Bulgarian National Television as delegated film producer, where I was responsible for film making supervision.
Since 2010, I participated in various projects as freelancer - boom operator in the film with working title "Code Red", directed by Valeri Milev, boom operator and sound recordist of documentary film of Roman Pesarov and others.
During those years, I was composing. You can find my works on the following websites - http://www.reverbnation.com/dimodimov and http://www.broadjam.com/player/dimodimov
In 2012, I decided to open my own studio – “Dimov Sound”
